CAMP IMPAACT : JUNE 27TH - JULY 1st, 2022
S.T.E.A.M. into Safe Summer Fun
We had a blast at Camp ImpAACt 2022 with the Ellis Center! We were able to expand the number of campers to accommodate more kids! We had AAC experts, interveners and educators, S.T.E.A.M. powered, adapted activities, and a full-time nurse to monitor and check staff and campers. Registration opened on March 1st and filled in less than 5 minutes! Thank you for making our Camp a priority on your summer schedules!
Campers looked forward to:
Being paired with a trained communication facilitator all week
Lots of fun Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) activities that are adapted for AAC users
Sessions with music, speech, physical, and occupational therapists throughout the week
Staying safe with the help of multiple nurses experienced with children with complex disabilities
Small, safe group activities where they can engage with their peers
lending a helping hand

Volunteering with camp is a great opportunity to observe professionals like Special Education Teachers, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists who enhance our camp program. One-on-One volunteers got to learn hands-on Augmentative & Alternative Communication skills and help our campers communicate.

Holding camp was important to our community as many families have few options dedicated to AAC users. As we expanded the number of campers, we needed to hire additional nurses, therapists, and other professional staff in order to keep everyone safe!
